Meet Our Volunteers
This Volunteer Week, we're proud to shine a light on the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and heart to support our mission. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, but they share one common goal, making a difference in their community.
Below, you’ll find stories and reflections from some of our amazing volunteers. Their dedication is the heart of what we do, and we’re so grateful for every contribution they make.

When you truly love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work, and that’s exactly how I feel about volunteering. Every day, I have the privilege of witnessing the incredible growth and transformation of our participants. Watching someone go from hesitant and unsure to confident and independent is one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable. Knowing that I’ve played even a small role in that journey is something I cherish deeply.
Volunteers form the heart and soul of not only Donate 2 Drive (D2D) but our broader community. Their generosity, time, and commitment create real and lasting change in people’s lives. National Volunteer Week gives us the opportunity to pause, reflect, and celebrate the incredible contributions volunteers make across the country. It’s a moment to recognise the everyday heroes who give so much of themselves to help others move forward.
To all the volunteers who support D2D, from those who mentor our learner drivers to those who help behind the scenes with administration, outreach, or events, I want to extend my sincerest thanks. Your dedication, patience, and compassion are the driving force behind our success. This organisation would not be what it is today without each and every one of you.

Volunteering at Donate 2 Drive has shown me just how powerful volunteering can be. It gives me the chance to make a real difference in a community that truly needs it. One of my favourite parts is our volunteer open days, seeing people discover what we do and hearing how much they appreciate the service is always inspiring. It’s a beautiful reminder of the impact we’re all making together.

Volunteering at Donate 2 Drive has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Being part of a mission that helps people of all ages access free driving lessons and work towards their independence has given me a real sense of purpose. I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to something that truly makes a difference, improving road safety, building confidence, and creating inclusive opportunities for those who need it most.

Volunteering is more than just a generous act—it’s a powerful boost to your own health and wellbeing. Giving your time and energy to help others can create a sense of purpose, reduce stress, and even improve physical health.
Mentally, volunteering is known to increase feelings of happiness and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. Engaging in meaningful work, especially with others, helps build social connections and combats loneliness—a key factor in mental wellbeing. The sense of accomplishment and belonging that comes with volunteering can also boost self-esteem and resilience.
Physically, volunteers often enjoy better health outcomes. Studies have linked volunteering to lower blood pressure, reduced risk of heart disease, and even longer life expectancy. The benefits are especially strong for older adults, who may also experience improved mobility and cognitive function.
Whether it's helping with driving lessons, mentoring young people, or supporting environmental causes, volunteering offers a simple but effective way to support your community while enhancing your own health and wellbeing.
